GRADUATE PRODUCER 3RD TIME WELLINGTON 48 HOURS WINNER
48hours filmmaking competition names Wellington winner. Previous winners take it again. And again!

Once again the winners of the Wellington heat of the 48HOURS film competition were announced (June 2008) as being Producer Bonnie Slater and Director Sam Kelly, who were thrilled to be chosen for the third time to represent Wellington at the national level of the competition with their juvenile delinquent film Darlene.
The 48HOURS filmmaking competition gives 600 teams across Aotearoa just 48 hours to make a film, from idea to completion. Each team is randomly allocated a genre, and must include a given character, a line of dialogue, and a prop to include in their film. The Slater/Kelly team won Wellington in 2006 with the horror short The Baby Farmer and in 2007 with the grindhouse film Maori Detective and the Boogie Fever. This year Darlene won Best Film, Best Script, Best Cinematography, Best Use of Prop, and Most Perfect Moment. The cinematography prize was a HD Panasonic camera.
Other Film School graduates and students on the team were Marty Lang from Crew 14 as gaffer, Jules Lovelock (Crew 15) as Lighting Assistant, Boom Swinger Kirawat (Pope) Sahasewiyon (Crew 10) and current student Judith Ritchie from Crew 16 in Wardrobe who received a nomination for Best Costume.
